Hazell Dean turned down the opportunity to appear on The Masked Singer Australia.
The Hi-NRG star reveals in her weekly Ask Hazell Facebook series she was approached to compete on the show, which sees stars perform from behind elaborate guises, but passed on the offer.
According to the Who’s Leaving Who star, it’s not the only show she’s turned down – Hazell was also asked to judge on Geri Horner’s BBC talent show All Together Now and to compete on The Voice UK.
“I get asked to take part in shows quite often, but to date the response has always been – NO,” she says. “I was approached to be a contestant on The Voice many times over the years, and I politely declined their requests many times…
“I was asked to take part in The Masked Singer and was asked to be a judge on All Together Now but again, not for me.”
Despite being a launchpad for upcoming artists, an appearance from an established act like Hazell on The Voice wouldn’t be out of the ordinary – stars including The Fizz’s Jay Aston and Five Star’s Denise Pearson have also competed in the past.
While Hazell’s avoided TV appearances so far, there is one show she’s love to appear on – RuPaul’s Drag Race UK!
“I know Ru is a fan because Michelle [Visage, judge] told Stevie when she met her at DragCon in January this year,” gushes the Love Pains singer, who’s eyeing a judging spot on a forthcoming season of the programme.
“When Stevie told Michelle she was my daughter, Michelle was very excited and responded with ‘I can’t wait to tell Ru!’”
