Gorillaz have cancelled their planned US tour.
The group was scheduled to play a run of shows through September, but bosses at Ticketmaster confirmed the previously-scheduled gigs would no longer go ahead.
“Due to scheduling conflicts and circumstances beyond our control, the previously announced Gorillaz shows in September have been cancelled,” they penned in a statement sent out via email.
“Refunds will be issued automatically at your point of purchase and will be processed as quickly as possible, there is nothing further for you to do at this time. Please allow for up to 30 days for the refund to process.”
The Getaway Shows tour was scheduled to hit Los Angeles, Austin, Chicago, and Boston between September 10 and 19, with Kaytranada, Lil Yachty and Remi Wolf as support
“We are gutted not to be able to perform for you this year,” added Gorillaz. “We were really looking forward to it and we hope to get back to you again as soon as we can.
“We love our Gorillaz family and we can’t wait to see you again.”
Earlier this year, the group returned with ‘Cracker Island’ – the follow-up to ‘Song Machine, Season One – Strange Timez‘ (2020) – with the LP debuting atop the UK Albums Chart.
In a review of the album, RETROPOP praised ‘Cracker Island’, calling the record “a testament to the group that, after more than 20 years, they’re still delivering some of their best material”.
‘Cracker Island’ is available now.
