Gary Kemp has released a 10-and-a-half-minute remix of his latest single Waiting for the Band.
The track is the third to be lifted from the Spandau Ballet star’s second solo LP ‘INSOLO’ and has been given an epic reworking, courtesy of Steven Wilson with Mike Garson on piano.
“I’m a huge fan of Steven Wilson’s work and played a lot of the early mixes of INSOLO to him, so it was a great thrill to have him do this extended remix of Waiting for the Band,” says Gary.
“The song deals with being a fan of music in the ‘70s and I always saw the middle section as me walking into the Hammersmith Odeon for the Bowie show in 1973.
“So, to have the great Mike Garson come and sprinkle his piano stardust onto this mix was an amazing connection with my past, given that he played piano that night for David.”
Waiting for the Band is the third track to be lifted from ‘INSOLO’, after lead single Ahead of the Game and Too Much.
‘INSOLO’ – Gary’s first solo effort since 1995’s ‘Little Bruises’ – is available on CD and LP. Signed CDs are also available.
