Gary Kemp has released an epic nine-minute version of his recent single Ahead of the Game.
The track was the first single to be lifted from Gary’s forthcoming LP ‘INSOLO’, alongside Too Much and Waiting for the Band, and soon became a radio hit following its initial release.
Of the song, he says: “Richard Jones [The Feeling] added the bass guitar. Apart from being a friend Richard’s an amazing player and I’ve worked with him before, so we had an easy language.
“He loves late ’70s pop and I felt some of that influence in this tune. In building backing vocals on this album my references were always from that era – Wings, 10cc and Supertramp.”
Gary adds: “It’s great to make an old fashioned 80s-style extended mix of Ahead of the Game. Took me back to the days of 12” remixes and doing Chant No.1 and Cut a Long Story.”
‘INSOLO’ – Gary’s first solo effort since 1995’s ‘Little Bruises’ – is available to pre-order on CD and LP. Signed CDs are also available.
