Gary Barlow admits he and his Take That bandmates are “desperate” to get back out on the road after the pandemic.
The group has been on hiatus amid the pandemic, during which time Gary released his fifth solo album ‘Music Played by Humans‘, which topped the UK charts last year.
And in a new interview, Gary admitted he, Howard Donald and Mark Owen can’t wait to get back onstage and won’t wait around when live performances become possible.
“We’re desperate to come back and do something,” he tells The Sun. “I don’t know what it will be yet, whether it’s a tour or album, or both even. But Take That are going nowhere.”
The Incredible singer adds: “I think we will, as long as we are all fit and healthy. I think we all love the experience of being on stage. We love being in Take That.
“That greatest hits album [‘Odyssey’] marked a moment for us, and we are happy for that moment to just hold there, but I don’t think it will be long before we’re back. The touring side is such a big part of it for us, so we’ll wait until people are safely back and feeling confident.”
In the meantime, Gary has redirected his attention to his new BBC One special ‘I’m With The Band’.
Of the show, which debuted on June 4, he says: “A key reason for me doing this show for BBC One was that I just wanted to get in a room with a load of people I love and respect and play music.
“We’re aiming to give artists a platform and place where they can perform and have fun. It’s simply a musical treat for everyone who loves watching the best musicians performing great songs from any genre and any decade.”
