A spot in the final of ‘The Masked Singer’ proved a little too Out of Reach for Gabrielle, who was unmasked as Harlequin on Saturday (Feb 6) night’s show.
The singer wowed with a performance of Ava Max’s Sweet But Psycho, but was selected by the studio audience as the second season’s fourth-place contestant.
Speaking after her elimination, Gabrielle described filming the show as “a military operation,” revealing she was given strict rules to hide her identity.
“The secrecy was crazy, I couldn’t have imagined quite how intense it would be,” she explained.
“I had to arrive to the studio in a balaclava, a hoodie that says ‘Don’t speak to me’, visor and gloves – you can’t have any skin on show at all.
“You aren’t allowed to talk to 99% of the people that work on the show and rely on giving a thumbs up or shake of the head when asked questions.
“You have to stay in your dressing room, be escorted from A to B,” added the Dreams star.
“It’s like a military operation, the secrecy is taken so seriously and on the first day was really overwhelming but you get used to it and it’s fun playing the game.”
Gabrielle was one of two stars revealed in the semi-finals, with TV host Sue Perkins shocking viewers after being unmasked as Dragon. Former seduction star Michelle Visage was among the stars speculated to be behind the mask.
Last week’s show saw A-ha’s Morten Harket trick the show’s panelists with an acoustic rendition of his own hit Take on Me – although it wasn’t enough to save the show’s Viking from getting the chop.
Other eliminated contestants include funnyman Lenny Henry, singers Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Mel B, and Martine McCutcheon, Glenn Hoddle and John Thomson.
‘The Masked Singer’ airs Saturdays on ITV.
