Fugees are returning to the stage for a world tour in celebration of their classic album ‘The Score’.
The group, starring Lauryn Hill, Wyclef Jean and Pras Michel, released their second and final LP in 1996, which spawned No. 1 singles Ready Or Not and Killing Me Softly.
After splitting one year later, the band reunited in 2004, but a huge tour and studio sessions for their third album led to tensions bubbling over led to an explosive split.
Now, they’re back with a string of global dates, including a stop at The O2, London on December 6.
Of the trek, Lauryn says: “The Fugees have a complex but impactful history. I wasn’t even aware the 25th anniversary had arrived until someone brought it to my attention.
“I decided to honor this significant project, its anniversary, and the fans who appreciated the music by creating a peaceful platform where we could unite, perform the music we loved, and set an example of reconciliation for the world.”
Wyclef adds: “As I celebrate 25 years with the Fugees, my first memory was that we vowed, from the gate, we would not just do music we would be a movement.
“We would be a voice for the un-heard, and in these challenging times, I am grateful once again, that God has brought us together.
Tickets go on sale Friday September 24.
It’s a massive U-turn, as the group previously insisted they’d never reunite.
In 2007, Pras said: “You will have a better chance of seeing Osama Bin Laden and (George W.) Bush in Starbucks having a latte, discussing foreign policies, before there will be a Fugees reunion.”
Following their separation, the group all went on to enjoy success individually, with Lauryn topping charts worldwide with her smash hit debut ‘The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill’.
