Pioneering New York art pop duo Fischerspooner have teamed up with Demon Records on a series of catalogue reissues.
The duo are kicking things off with a hot pink vinyl LP edition of their 2001 debut album ‘#1’, marking its first pressing since the early 2000s. It will be released on November 27 for this year’s Record Store Day Black Friday and exclusively available from participating stores.
On the series of re-releases, which also includes a comprehensive box-set due spring 2027, the duo – who started the act in 1998 as a New York art project and have remixed for the likes of Kylie Minogue and The Killers – expressed joy at their work being preserved for future generations.
Classically-trained musician Warren Fischer says: “Fischerspooner started in 1998 as an experiment incorporating music, image, and performance to explore what entertainment was and could be.
“Sincere and absurd, I’m excited #1 is coming back on vinyl with Demon, so people can hear it again on its own terms, twenty-five years later.”
“It’s exciting that all our creative work and history is being carefully preserved,” adds performance artist Casey Spooner. “To have all these ideas gathered in one place and properly archived is a huge gift. There’s so much more that hasn’t been seen and amazing stories yet to be told.”
