Duran Duran throw the party to end all parties in the music video for Duran Duran’s recent single Anniversary. 

The track is the third to be lifted from ‘Future Past’ – the ‘80s supergroup’s 15th studio album – out this Friday, and its official music video dropped on Tuesday.

The clip is directed by the BAFTA-winning artist, photographer and filmmaker Alison Jackson, whose work explores the cult of celebrity via highly-styled lookalikes, with Cher, Lady Gaga, Queen Elizabeth II and Vladimir Putin among those in attendance.

She says: “I’m thrilled to have been asked by Duran Duran to make their music video – creating an iconic party for their 40th anniversary, bringing celebrities together from past and present.”

Of the track, bass player John Taylor adds: “Anniversary is a special song for us. Obviously, we were conscious of our own impending 40th anniversary of making music together, but we wanted the song’s meaning to be inclusive in the broadest possible way.

“After playing and working together for so long, we very much appreciate what ‘being together’ and ’staying together’ can really mean, it’s not something we would have thought song-worthy 40 years ago but we do today!

“It was also fun to build a track with hints of previous Duran hits, they’re like Easter eggs, for the fans to find.”

Anniversary follows lead single Invisible, which Duran Duran released back in May, along with More Joy!, a collaboration with Japanese rockers CHAI. They recently dropped Tonight United.

‘Future Past’ features 12 new tracks and appearances from the likes of Blur’s Graham Coxon and long-time David Bowie pianist Mike Garson, and guest vocals from Lykke Li.

Three bonus songs are included with the deluxe edition of the record.
