Duran Duran are among the artists set to perform at the 2022 Commonwealth Games opening ceremony.
The group will take that stage at Birmingham’s Alexander Stadium for the spectacle on July 28.
“The Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games is a momentous event for the great city of Birmingham,” says Simon Le Bon. “And we in Duran Duran are honoured to be a part of it in our home town.”

“We are so proud to be returning to our home town to close the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games Opening Ceremony,” adds Roger Taylor.
Steven Knight, director of ‘Peaky Blinders’, will executive produce the event, which will air on the BBC.
During the evening, Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi and saxophonist Soweto Kinch will also perform as part of ‘Hear My Voice’, a dream sequence based on the title track from ‘The Trial Of The Chicago Seven’, featuring R&B vocalists Indigo Marshall and Gambimi.
Meanwhile, Samantha Oxborough will perform the national anthem with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra (CBSO) on the night.
