Veronica Green, star of ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race UK’, has collaborated with producer Ian Masterson on her debut single, Stars.
Breaking the tradition upheld by most Drag Race queens, musical theatre star Veronica takes a different path with her solo music, serving up a stunning and emotional musical theatre ballad.
Written and produced by pop genius Ian Masterson – alongside Hayley Sanderson – the musician draws upon decades of musical experience, having worked on hits for Girls Aloud, Pet Shop Boys, Dannii Minogue, Sophie Ellis Bextor and Bananarama.
The emotional and deeply personal lyrics tell of someone who has always been called different and strange, finding comfort and love in a big city at night.
“They tell you – you are nothing, they tell you – you are strange. A kid who longs for different is just ‘going through a stage’.
In a small town with small people you get used to out of place, so your mirror becomes your world your mirror keeps you safe.”
Veronica says: “I think a lot of people will relate to this song coming from small towns and villages and finding their place and acceptance in a big city.
“It’s a big musical theatre style pop song that provides the perfect introduction to my musical world.”
The ballad’s only half of the story – Veronica followed-up the initial release with a disco-infused remix, taking the drama straight to the dance floor.
Veronica quickly became a fan favourite during her stint on the second season of the BBC Three show, and won praise for her stunning vocals during musicals week and breath-taking runway looks.
Sadly, Veronica was forced to pull out of the contest early after testing positive for coronavirus, however she’s set to return for the forthcoming third series of the reality contest.
