Dexys – aka Dexys Midnight Runners – will release their new live album this spring.
Due May 24, the self-titled release was recorded during their 2023 tour and includes a live performance of their most recent LP, ‘The Feminine Divine’, along with a run of classic hits.
To celebrate the release, Kevin Rowland and co. will host a special album launch party at KOKO, London on June 14.
Dexys’ live album is available to pre-order here and tickets for the KOKO show are on sale now.
‘The Feminine Divine’ – the group’s fifth album of original material – is produced once again by Pete Schwier, along with acclaimed session musician and producer Toby Chapman, and sees frontman Kevin Rowland with a fresh perspective and newfound positivity.
Described as a “personal, if not strictly autobiographical, record portraying a man whose views have evolved over time,” the project explores every-changing views towards the concept of masculinity.
It’s an idea reflected in the artwork for the release – a painting inspired by Pele, the Hawaiian goddess of fire and volcanoes – with two tracks on the album featuring the word Goddess in the title.
In a review of the album, RETROPOP said ‘The Feminine Divine’ features “nine tracks that lean into the band’s history […] with the concept of the record playing into a larger overhaul of their musical direction”.
