A new version of David Bowie‘s Starman has been shared to mark the 50th anniversary of his classic album, ‘The Rise And Fall Of Ziggy Stardust And The Spiders From Mars’.
The late pop icon’s fifth studio album – also featuring tracks like Five Years and Suffragette City – was originally released on June 16, 1972.
Marking the milestone, a new version of the song, titled Starman (Top of the Pops Version, 2022 Mix) has debuted across digital platforms.
In 1972, the Musicians Union rules stated that artists appearing on ‘Top of the Pops’ must re-record their track, with Bowie performing live over the new version.
Starman (Top of the Pops Version, 2022 Mix) was created by co-producer Ken Scott from the BBC‘s original multi-tracks.
It comes as the full record is being feted with a limited edition, half-speed vinyl reissue, out now.
