Chappell Roan looks set to land her first No. 1 on the UK Singles Chart with her 2020 single Pink Pony Club.
Following the star’s success at the BRIT Awards over the weekend, the track is leading the mid-week race, ahead of Kendrick Lamar’s Not Like Us, which sits at No. 2.
On Monday, Official Charts data revealed the rapper was 1,300 sales behind the Good Luck, Babe! singer.
In a video speech during Saturday’s (March 1) ceremony, Roan dedicated her wins “to trans artists, to drag queens, to fashion students, sex workers, and Sinéad O’Connor”.
“Because all those people … have laid the groundwork for me to be here today,” she explained. “I did not give up because of them, and I will continue going because of them.”
The Hot To Go star continued: “I don’t believe in bad art, but let’s just say I had to write a lot of bad songs to get to the good ones. Artists deserve that freedom to write bad songs and to explore horrible concepts.
“So we must continue to support these artists so they can find success on their own terms and have long careers.”
