Celine Dion has slammed Donald Trump for using her late-’90s classic My Heart Will Go On at his rally.
The Canadian superstar took to social media to assure followers she did not authorise his use of the song at a Montana campaign rally, condemning the Republican candidate for using the song in support of his political bid.
“Today, Celine Dion’s management team and her record label, Sony Music Entertainment Canada Inc., became aware of the unauthorised usage of the video, recording, musical performance, and likeness of Celine Dion singing ‘My Heart Will Go On’ at a Donald Trump / JD Vance campaign rally in Montana,” reads the post.
“In no way is this use authorised, and Celine Dion does not endorse this or any similar use. …And really, THAT song?”
According to Variety, Trump has previously played the song at political events in the past, but after showing a video of Dion performing the single at Friday’s (August 9) rally, he and his running mate could face legal consequences.
It comes after Dion made a triumphant return to the stage at the Opening Ceremony of the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, singing Edith Piaf’s classic song Hymne à l’amour (Hymn To Love).
