Billie Eilish and brother Finneas picked up a Golden Globe on Sunday night (January 7) for their ‘Barbie’ hit, What Was I Made For?.
The duo beat out competition from Dua Lipa (Dance The Night, ‘Barbie’), Ryan Gosling (I’m Just Ken, ‘Barbie’), Bruce Springsteen (Addicted To Romance, ‘She Came To Me’), Lenny Kravitz (Road To Freedom, ‘Dustin’) and Jack Black (Peaches, ‘The Super Mario Bros. Movie’).
In a speech, Eilish said: “I was not expecting this in that moment. It was exactly a year ago almost that we were shown the movie and I was very miserable and depressed at the time. Writing that song kind of saved me a little bit.
“A year later, here we are and I feel incredibly lucky and grateful,” she continued, adding: “You guys scare the living hell out of me, everyone in this room.”
The song gave Eilish her second UK No. 1 hit, following her previous movie soundtrack smash, No Time To Die, taken from the James Bond film of the same name.
Dua Lipa also scored a No. 1 with Dance The Night, making ‘Barbie’ one of the most successful film soundtracks of all time.
Kicking off awards season, the siblings’ win comes ahead of the Oscars (for which the nominees have yet to be announced) and the Grammys, with their song up for five awards, including Record Of The Year and Best Song Written For Visual Media.
Eilish is expected to release her third studio album this year.
