Beyoncé’s new album ‘Renaissance’ is the first instalment of a three-part project.
According to notes in the record’s vinyl release, the LP is part of a “three act project” recorded over the last three years.
In snaps shared online by a fan who received their vinyl copy of the record early, it is revealed: “This three act project was recorded over three years during the pandemic.
“A time to be still, but also a time I found to be the most creative.”
It is yet to be confirmed when parts two and three of the project will be released.
Elsewhere in the liner notes, Beyoncé says: “Creating this album allowed me a place to dream and to find escape during a scary time for the world.
“It allowed me to feel free and adventurous in a time when little else was moving. My intention was to create a safe place, a place without judgment. A place to be free of perfectionism and overthinking.
“A place to scream, release, feel freedom. It was a beautiful journey of exploration.”
‘Renaissance’ sees the superstar work with a host of big names, including Chic disco legend Nile Rogers who is credited on the track Cuff It.
Other collaborators on the Destiny’s Child legend’s first solo LP in six years include Pharrell Williams and Skrillex, along with Drake, Labrinth, Honey Dijon and her husband, JAY-Z.
Meanwhile, the legendary Grace Jones features alongside Tems on the song Move.
Lead single Break My Soul features a sample of Robyn S’ Show Me Love and on closing track Summer Renaissance she appears to sample Donna Summer’s 1977 disco classic I Feel Love.
In the credits, Donna’s name appears with producers Giorgio Moroder and Peter Bellotte, who both worked on the original.
‘Renaissance’ is available now.
