Betty Boo is returning to the stage for a headline show at the Islington Assembly Hall.
The Doin’ The Do hitmaker will perform hits from her three albums – ‘Boomania’ (1990), ‘GRRR! It’s Betty Boo’ (1992) and ‘Boomerang’ (2022) – plus songs from her forthcoming LP, at the homecoming show on June 15.
“Exciting news my Booettes! I’ll be bringing the Boo house down at @islington_ah on Saturday 15th June,” she wrote in an announcement. “Expect all your favourites, plus a few from my brand new album, but more on that very soon!
“I’d love to see you there. So grab your dancing shoes and let’s make it a night to remember.”
Tickets go on sale Wednesday (December 6) at 10am GMT and are available here.
Speaking to RETROPOP last year, the star – real name Alison Clarkson – opened up about returning to the spotlight, admitting: “I decided that I wanted to make the record because I hit a big birthday, let’s say. I thought, ‘If I don’t do it now, I’ll never do it’.
“I’d been putting it off and putting it off. I’d been doing the festivals and things like that, and it’s good performing your old stuff, but there comes a point where you go, ‘There must be something fresh in me!’”
Having supported the release with a string of hit radio singles and a launch gig at London’s Lafayette, the 24 Hours singer is thrilled to be back.
“I’ve been away for such a long time and you just don’t know if you’re gonna be accepted or not,” she shared. “Especially as a woman, the first thing people think is, ‘Oh, what does she look like?’ It’s really terrible. But overall, it’s been 100 per cent positive and I’m absolutely thrilled.”
In a review of the album, RETROPOP called ‘Boomerang’ the perfect comeback, writing: “The essence of Betty Boo is alive and well, and on hand to spread a little much-needed joy into the world today.”
