Bananarama are planning to drop their eighth album, Exotica, on vinyl for the first time.

The duo has released their entire discography, from Deep Sea Skiving through Ultra Violet, and recent releases Drama, Viva and In Stereo, on vinyl – but their 2001 album has yet to be pressed.

Speaking about the LP during their recent Instagram Live broadcast, singers Sara Dallin and Keren Woodward discussed the possibility of a 20th anniversary re-release.

“Exotica on vinyl? I can’t work out what the problem is with that one,” said Sara. “What’s the problem with Exotica?”

“Well, it’s not very good…” quipped Keren, with Sara clarifying, “What’s the problem with it coming out on vinyl?”

“I don’t think we could track it down, could we? I think we’re on the case though, aren’t we? We had a discussion about it” Keren said.

However, Sara seemed unsure, adding, “No, I don’t think we are.”

“No, we are – I discussed it with you recently,” insisted Keren, as Sara asked, “Is it the French one?” as she figured which album they were talking about.

Back in 2020, the group re-issued their classic 1995 album Ultra Violet on vinyl and digital services, in celebration of its 25th anniversary.

Meanwhile, Sara and Keren have teased the possibility of new music in the near future.

When if there was “new music on the horizon,” Keren teased: “We might have more to tell you – if we ever do another one of these…”

Although there have been no recent indication that Bananarama have been recording, in early 2020 they shared a snap from the studio as they reunited with producer Ian Masterson.

It will be their first studio release since Bananarama dropped their 11th LP, In Stereo, which featured the singles Stuff Like That and Looking For Someone, in 2019. It also spawned the live record, Live In Stereo.

In Stereo propelled the group back into the UK Top 30 with their highest charting collection since the ’80s.
