A biopic on the life and career of the late Amy Winehouse is in the works.
Filmmaker Sam Taylor-Johnson will helm ‘Back To Black’, which will be penned by Matt Greenhalgh and based on Daphne Barak’s book, ‘Saving Amy’.
Alison Owen, who was originally slated to direct, will co-produce the project, alongside Studiocanal, Debra Hayward and Tracey Seaward.
According to Variety, the project has the support of the late star’s Estate, including her father Mitch Winehouse, who previously said the ‘Back To Black’ biopic was “100 per cent not allowed”.
Insisting the creators hadn’t approached the family or Amy’s record label Universal, he told TMZ at the time: “They can’t be that stupid. Everyone knows proper licences must be granted.”
It marks the second attempt to create a biopic on the Camden star’s life, following an abandoned 2015 project that reportedly cast Noomi Rapace as the Love Is A Losing Game singer.
