Alison Moyet is back with another track from her new album ‘Key’ – a reimagined version of her 1994 song So Am I.
Co-written by Moyet and Ian Broudie of the Lightning Seeds and originally featured on her fourth solo LP ‘Essex’, the track is a wry and sardonic out-of-body observation of defeat and among Moyet’s favourites from her repertoire.
It’s the third release from the forthcoming record – marking her 40th anniversary as a solo artist – following the original Such Small Ale and a re-recording of All Cried Out.

“I wanted to take the opportunity to look at the trajectory of the past four decades and explore songs that, in their original form, were never fully realised or have had their relevance to me altered by time,” says the artist of her new record.
A collaboration with producer, arranger and musical director Sean McGhee, the songs on the album take on a timeless feel, while two new tracks – Such Small Ale and The Impervious Me – are a testament to her enduring creativity.
Offering a cohesive journey through her repertoire to date, she adds: “I hope this collection will be the key to those unopened doors. Let yourself in.”
