ABBA’s comeback album ‘Voyage’ has smashed a massive UK vinyl sales record.
The Swedish supergroup’s first album in 40 years topped the UK Albums Chart with 204,000 chart sales in its first seven days, securing the fastest-selling album since 2017.
What’s more, it secured 29,900 vinyl sales, making it the fastest-selling vinyl release of the century, overtaking the 24,500 first-week vinyl sales of Arctic Monkeys’ ‘Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino’.
Additionally, ‘Voyage’ marks ABBA’s 58th total week as UK No, 1 on the Official Albums Chart, placing them third only to The Beatles and Elvis Presley.
“We are so happy that our fans seem to have enjoyed our new album as much as we enjoyed making it,” ABBA told the Official Charts Company.
“We are absolutely over the moon to have an album at the top of the charts again!”
In a review of the album, Retro Pop called ‘Voyage’ “a fitting closing chapter in the tale of Sweden’s best-loved musical export”.
‘Voyage’ is available on CD, vinyl and cassette.
