Sugababes are back with their latest, self-titled album – check out their new single ‘Ghost’ below.
The LP – only the third to feature the original line-up of Keisha Buchanan, Mutya Buena and Siobhán Donaghy – serves as the follow-up to 2022’s ‘The Lost Tapes’ and arrives 27 years after their debut ‘One Touch’.
Featuring 12 songs, it brings together last year’s singles run of ‘Jungle‘, ‘Weeds‘ and ‘Shook‘, and includes ‘Modern Love’, which was performed by the trio during their summer shows.
Speaking in an interview with British Vogue, Donaghy opened up on their latest single, revealing it was inspired by “something that happened to me with my first love”.
“He essentially ghosted me before we even had the terminology for it,” she shared. “I remember joking at the time that in some ways it would have been easier if he’d died – which is obviously incredibly dramatic, but there’s something strange about grieving someone who’s still out there.”
The track is produced by Jon Shave, with Donaghy adding of its “loose” sound: “We weren’t consciously trying to make something that sounded like an old Sugababes record, but once the three voices are on something with that slightly raw, soulful quality, I think it naturally starts to feel like us.”
