Johnny Marr will release his fifth solo album ‘The Age Of Everything’ via BMG on October 2.
The latest LP from the former Smiths guitarist – his first since 2022’s ‘Fever Dreams Pts 1–4’ – clocks in at 10 tracks, including the new single ‘Spin’, out now.
Speaking on the project, he says: “This is the record that’s been the most cathartic. The title came to me early in the process and became an inescapable idea. It seemed to sum up the way I think a lot of people are feeling.
“It’s all encompassing, but it’s not necessarily a negative statement. There’s a sense of overwhelm in the culture brought about by technology, but looking at it with a different light, there could also be a sense of possibility.”
Written in London and recorded in Manchester, with material developed while on tour across the east coast of North America, the record “captures the energy and tensions” of Marr’s home city, and is “sharp, fast and dynamic, filled with ideas and possibilities”, according to a press release
‘The Age Of Everything’ is released on October 2 and available to pre-order from Amazon, HMV, Rough Trade, Townsend and more. Listen to ‘Spin’ below.
