Soft Cell will release their final album, ‘Danceteria’, on September 25.
The final studio set from Marc Almond and Dave Ball – who passed away last year at the age of 66 – is the sixth studio LP from the ‘Tainted Love’ hitmakers and arrives on Republic Of Music, with its title song out now.
It serves as the follow-up to their 2022 comeback record, ‘*Happiness Not Included’, and subsequent companion piece, ‘*Happiness Now Completed’.
On the new single, Almond says: “’Danceteria’ is a love letter to New York in the early ’80s. The time we spent in New York – where we recorded our first three albums – shaped us both as artists and people. To celebrate this period is a fitting farewell to Dave Ball and the final Soft Cell studio album.”
Confirming the future of the group, he added: “There can be no more recordings of Soft Cell without Dave, it would not be possible. The sad reality is that Dave Ball was half of Soft Cell, and live work aside, I can’t write Soft Cell songs without him.”
‘Danceteria’ is out on September 25 and available to pre-order from Amazon, HMV, Rough Trade, Townsend and more. Listen to the single ‘Danceteria’ below.
