Robyn has revisited her 2002 song ‘Blow My Mind’ as the latest single from her upcoming album ‘Sexistential‘.
Originally featured on her third LP ‘Don’t Stop The Music’, the track follows ‘Dopamine‘, ‘Talk To Me‘ and the title song from her forthcoming ninth album, which is due out on March 27.
Produced by Klas Åhlund, it’s billed as “a tricked-out redux” of the original song and was written in tribute to the singer’s three-year-old child.
“‘Blow My Mind’ is the one song on the album about my son,” she explained of the personal new release. “I was in that early stage when I was with him all the time, and something about that closeness opened the song up to me again. Listening back to the original, I thought, ‘I think it’s one of the best songs I ever recorded, and I’m just gonna do it again’.”
Robyn continued: “I rewrote the lyrics and I love this version’s rawness. It’s not cute, because it’s not cute with children. They’re cute, but the experience isn’t. It’s very punk.”
