Katy Perry is embracing healing and moving on from heartbreak with her massive new single Bandaids.
The track is the first release from the US chart-topper since her sixth studio album, ‘143’, which arrived last September, and seemingly documents the breakdown of her nine-year relationship with actor Orlando Bloom.
‘Hand to God I promise I tried / There’s no stone left unturned / It’s not what you did / It’s what you didn’t / You were there but you weren’t,‘ she sings. ‘Got so used to you letting me down / No use trying to send flowers now / Telling myself you’ll change you don’t / Bandaids over a broken heart.‘
Alongside the track, a music video sees the Firework singer endure a series of near-death experiences after losing her wedding band down the drain, with multiple apparent allusions to her own situation.
As she sings, ‘If I had to do it all over again / I would still do it all over again / The love that we made was worth it in the end,’ the camera zooms in on a daisy flower, seemingly referencing the former couple’s 5-year-old daughter, Daisy Dove.
