Oasis are on track to return to the Top 10 of the UK Singles Chart this week.
The band marked 30 years since the release of their debut single, Supersonic, with a digital re-release including a previously-unheard live recording dating back to 1994.
Recorded at the Limelight in Belfast on September 4, it’s helped propel the track – lifted from their chart-topping debut album, ‘Definitely Maybe’ – into the Top 10 of the midweeks, where it currently sits at No. 6.
The song originally peaked at No. 31 on its release in 1994.
Of the release, the group’s YouTube page says: “This kinetic live version of Supersonic was recorded at the Limelight, Belfast on 4th September 1994, perfectly capturing the moment when Oasis were one of the most exciting new bands and poised on the brink of era-defining crossover success.
“Earlier that week, their seminal debut album ‘Definitely Maybe’ had been released (29th August 1994) and shortly before taking to the stage in Belfast, the band discovered the album had reached Number 1 in the UK Official Album Chart.”
