Bonnie Tyler hit the top of the US iTunes Singles Chart on Monday (April 8) thanks to the total solar eclipse in North America.

The track rocketed to the top spot after Spotify confirmed searches for the power ballad shot up by nearly 50 per cent in the country in the past week.

It’s not the first time, either, with Tyler recently telling The New York Post: “Every time the eclipse comes around, it’s a bit crazy.”

“They send me all these stats all the time, and it’s always amazing.”

Last year, the Welsh star recalled how she came to record the Jim Steinman-penned track for her 1983 album, ‘Faster Than The Speed Of Night’.

“He had started writing it many, many years before and originally it was for a vampire theatre play, but he finished it off after he met me, took me and David [Aspden, manager] to the office where his manager, David Sonenberg, worked, thrusted the lyrics in front of us and played the song on the grand piano,” she shared.

“[Canadian rocker] Rory Dodd was there and he sang it all the way through – all eight minutes – while Jim played it on the piano, and when he finished me and David just looked at each other, because it was amazing!”
