“This picture was taken 20 years ago today, on the day that my second album, ‘Life For Rent’, came out,” she penned in a post on X. “We had the most incredible day performing in London in the morning at Virgin Megastore (where I spent every single weekend as a teenager listening to music) and then flying to New York with a plane full of fans and press to do a show there that night.
“It was one of the most memorable days of my life and I remember every single minute and the range of emotions so clearly.
“I had absolutely no idea what that day or the next few years would bring, but I was so incredibly happy singing these really personal songs for everyone in that moment.
“I have always been so happy when I’m singing and especially around all of you – so thank you for still being here and listening after all this time.”
Dido released her debut album, ‘No Angel’, in 1999, scoring hits with debut single Here With Me and the UK and US Top 3 smash, Thank You, which was later sampled by Eminem on Stan.
To date, she’s released five studio albums, with her most recent LP, ‘Still On My Mind’, arriving in 2019.
