Kesha will release her fifth studio album ‘Gag Order’ in less than a month’s time.
The pop superstar – who launched into the world charts 15 years ago with her smash hit single TiK ToK – has teamed up with producer Rick Rubin on the project, which is billed as her most introspective to date.
According to a press release, ‘Gag Order’ is a “full-bodied collection” that offers a “stream-of-conscious journey through the psychedelic dark depths of the human psyche” and ultimately leaves listeners “basking in the cleansing light when finally reaching the surface”.
In a self-penned manifesto, Kesha says: “Without the darkness there is no light. I finally let my darkness have the light. I cannot fight the truth of this life being difficult and painful. It is for everyone.”
“An artist doesn’t exist to make others happy. I believe an artist gives voice, motion, colour to the emotions we all have. The good emotions, and the unmanageably fucking miserable ones,” she adds (via Nylon).
The first two singles from the album – Eat The Acid and Fine Line – will be released this Friday, April 28. Both are available to pre-save now.
‘Gag Order’ – which clocks in at 13 tracks – is out May 19 and available to pre-order now.
