Kelly Clarkson has shared details of her upcoming 10th studio album ‘Chemistry’ and Las Vegas residency of the same name.
The Since U Been Gone hitmaker took to social media with a clip of herself discussing the project, inspired by her 2020 split with former husband Brandon Blackstock, which she assured fans is coming soon.
“I’ve been working on this project for close to three years now. I wasn’t sure I was going to release it, but I am,” explained the singer. “The album is called ‘Chemistry’.”
The ‘American Idol’ winner continued: “I was trying to find a word, it might be one of the songs on the album, but I was trying to find a word that really described the whole thing.
“I didn’t want everybody to think I was just coming out with some ‘I’m angry,’ ‘I’m sad’ – just one or two emotions. This album is definitely the arc of an entire relationship.”
Alongside the album, Kelly will also launch an intimate 10-night engagement at Las Vegas’ Bakkt Theater (formerly Zappos Theater), beginning July 28.
Having originally been slated to perform a different show, titled ‘Invincible’ in April 2020 – with plans axed due to the Covid-19 pandemic – she’s finally set to return to the stage in Sin City this summer.
“The goal was to make a living doing what I love and I’ve been able to do that and connect with people. That’s incredible. At 19, I was just looking to pay my water bill, I didn’t have anything,” she shared (via Billboard).
“It’s a lot of hard work and a little bit of luck. I don’t know if I ever thought it would be this big. I did not think I would end up having an exclusive little 10-show stint in Las Vegas.”
The venue has been home to residency shows from stars including Gwen Stefani, Jennifer Lopez, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera and Shania Twain in recent years.
Firm album release details have yet to be confirmed. Tickets for ‘Chemistry… An Intimate Night with Kelly Clarkson’ will go on sale this Friday, March 31 at 10am PT.
