Janelle Monáe has teamed up with Seun Kuti + Egypt 80 on her latest single Float.
Having teased the release earlier this year, the hitmaker’s new track is produced by Nana Kwabena, Nate “Rocket” Wonder, and Sensei Bueno, and available across digital platforms.
Float is her first new music since 2021 – when she shared Stronger and an extended version of Say Her Name (Hell You Talmbout). She released her most recent LP, ‘Dirty Computer’, in 2018.
In a recent interview, the multi-hyphenate – who stars in Netflix’s ‘Knives Out’ sequel ‘Glass Onion’ – confirmed she’s been back in the studio.
Asked if we’ll be getting new music, she joked: “Actually, you will! You will get new music because I now have a clone. That clone does all of my music, and I have another clone for acting. I’m not going to tell you if it’s me or not. They’re in the studio right now!”
She added: “I just feel so humbled and super, super blessed to be doing anything. Doing something like this, you don’t take it lightly.”
