Sinéad O’Connor has released her version of The Skye Boat Song – the theme for hit TV show ‘Outlander’.
The musician has contributed her take on the song to the forthcoming seventh series of the Starz’s historical sci-fi drama show, with her recording soundtracking the title sequence.
“We are honored to have Sinéad O’Connor performing The Skye Boat Song,” said showrunner and executive producer Matthew B. Roberts in a statement. “Her rendition is, for me, a reminder of all that’s beautiful about ‘Outlander’.
“She is talented beyond measure. Hers is a voice of the ages — one which pierces heart and soul — and embodies the spirit of the show.”
Season 7 of the show clocks in at 16 episodes and will mark the series’ penultimate run, with Starz recently announcing that season 8 of ‘Outlander’ will be its last.
A prequel, titled ‘Blood of My Blood’, about Jamie Fraser’s parents is also in the works.
