Denise Pearson has left Five Star ahead of the group’s 35th anniversary.
Earlier this month, the sibling group’s debut album Luxury of Life turned 35, and on Friday sisters Doris and Lorraine lent vocals to a new rendition of the classic Let Me Be The 1 – the fourth single from the album.
But taking to Instagram following the release, Doris confirmed Denise is no longer part of the band, writing: “The new versions of Let Me Be The One is officially out in the world! I hope you love it as much as I do it’s been a journey…
“The five of us hot together last December, with a view to doing something to mark the 35th anniversary of Luxury Of Life and maybe get in the studio again to do something new,” she continued. ” There were tears of hurt, pain and frustration, but by the end we had come to a resolution. Things felt good!
“By the time the second meeting rolled around, things had changed. Deniece told us she was ‘100% out’ of any future Five Star project. I wasn’t surprised. Just Disappointed.”
She continued: “And then there were four!…I hope this version of this classic R’n’B pop tune evokes the most uplifting, joyful memories of when we were all a little bit younger and had so many more summers to come (we still do).
“And in the grand tradition, there may be some choreo to come! Enjoy the vibes of this one. Summer has arrived. Let’s make it hot!”
Denise has yet to comment on Doris’ post.
