Gary Barlow is hoping to bag a Christmas No. 1 with the help of singer/actress Sheridan Smith.
The pair collaborated last year on the Take That star’s ‘Crooner Sessions’ Instagram series and they’ve reunited for the original holiday track How Christmas Is Supposed To Be.
Sources tell The Sun: “He knows Sheridan’s voice is outstanding and after she sang with him on his Crooner Sessions he knew he wanted to work with her again.
“They sounded great together and then this song came along, which seemed perfect. Sheridan jumped at the chance and the result is gorgeous.
“Everyone who has heard it thinks they could have a Christmas number one. It is a really uplifting, punchy pop song, a great one to have a singalong to.”
Gary and Sheridan performed Lionel Richie and Diana Ross’ Endless Love during their virtual duet and they’re hoping to hit the stage in person to perform the new tune.
“Gary and Sheridan are so proud of it and hope they’ll be able to perform it together live,” the insider added.
Gary is set to hit the road for his ‘Music Played by Humans’ jaunt later this year, where he’ll play tracks from his fifth, chart-topping LP, released last year.
Leona Lewis will join him on the road and they’re also set to go head-to-head in the charts, with the One More Sleep singer also apparently working on the follow-up to her 2013 holiday album ‘Christmas, with Love’.
The Incredible singer’s former bandmate Robbie Williams topped the charts in 2019 with his holiday album ‘The Christmas Present’, featuring guest appearances from Tyson Fury, Rod Stewart, Jamie Cullum, Helene Fischer and Bryan Adams.
