Cher will be back for the forthcoming third ‘Mamma Mia!’ movie, according to producer Judy Craymer.
The pop icon appeared in ‘Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again’ as Ruby Sheridan, the mother of Meryl Streep’s Sheridan-Carmichael, and stole the show with her rendition of ABBA’s classic hit Fernando.
Since the movie debuted in 2018, the singer has been noncommittal about her involvement in its follow-up, but according to Judy “everyone” will be back for the new film.
Speaking to the Daily Mail, she confirmed: “”It has to be a trilogy and everyone wants to come back and do it. It’s being worked on.”
When asked directly about the Believe hitmaker’s involvement, she added: “I think they all have to be back. We haven’t finished her story yet.
“Does she marry Andy Garcia? Who knows!”
Following her appearance in the franchise, Cher went on to record an album of ABBA cover versions, ‘Dancing Queen’, but she previously admitted she’s not sure about signing on for another stint onscreen.
In response to a fan’s tweet about her and co-star Amanda Seyfried, Cher penned: “Love Her… But She Keeps Whispering Mamma Mia 3 in my ear…
“I Said Babe,1&2 Have Used Most Famous Songs,I Made Mamma Mia “ Everyone But you is Ancient. [sic]”
In addition to acting work, Cher recently teased new music is on the horizon, admitting she’s “never heard anything like this before”.
