Toni Braxton is among the legendary cohort of stars lending their voices to the first-ever studio album from production duo Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis.
The pair kicked off the campaign for ‘Jam & Lewis, Vol. 1’ on Thursday, June 10 with Somewhat Loved (There You Go Breakin’ My Heart), featuring Mariah Carey, as they celebrate 35 years of hits this Summer.
Alongside the track, the pair dropped the tracklist for their forthcoming LP, due July 9, featuring ‘90s legends including Mariah, Toni, Babyface, Mary J. Blige, Boyz II Men and more.
One star who’s noticeably absent from the set is Janet Jackson, who is believed to have recorded material for the LP but doesn’t appear on the initial list.
Jam & Lewis began working with Janet in 1986 on her third album ‘Control’ and helmed classic records including ‘Janet Jackson’s Rhythm Nation 1814’, ‘The Velvet Rope’ and ‘All For You’.
Ahead of the release of Somewhat Loved (There You Go Breakin’ My Heart), the pair said in a statement: “When we started ‘Jam & Lewis, Vol. 1’, we put a wish-list together of all our favorite artists.
“The chance to reunite with our friend and fellow Songwriters Hall of Fame partner Mariah was wish list fulfilment at its finest.”
