Cher could be returning to screens soon as the Goddess of Pop hints she’s “going to have to” make her long-awaited debut on ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ as a guest judge.
Icons including Chaka Khan, Paula Abdul, The B-52’s and Tamar Braxton have all taken a seat alongside Ru in the past and, in a new interview with Entertainment Weekly, Cher acknowledges she’s one of the few stars who hasn’t appeared on the programme.
However, suggesting that could all change soon, the All or Nothing star admitted she’s known Ru for “a long time” and finds him “such a cool guy” – so of course she’d consider taking part.
“I would consider it! I have watched it… He’s smart and I love him,” she shared. “He’s the coolest guy ever. What he’s been able to do is amazing.”
Cher’s son Chaz Bono previously participated in a season six interview challenge alongside his grandmother Georgia Holt, and the pair also joined the judging panel later in the episode.
‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ paid homage to the Believe star in season 10 for Cher: The Unauthorised Rusical, which saw contestants channel various eras from the singer’s career. And although Cher made a video appearance on the episode, didn’t make it as far as the judging desk.
Cher spoke to the outlet ahead of the release of her new documentary ‘Cher & The Loneliest Elephant’, in which she travels to Islamabad, Pakistan to oversee Kavaan’s transfer to a sanctuary in Cambodia.
Cher first became involved with the campaign to free Kavaan in 2016, when footage of the elephant chained in his tiny habitat went viral online, attracting the attention of numerous animal rights organisations.
When the Islamabad high court ordered that Kavaan be released in May, Cher tweeted: “This is one of the greatest moments of my life.”
‘Cher & The Loneliest Elephant’ premieres Thursday, April 22 on Paramount+.
