Toni Braxton is the reigning Queen of R&B after scoring her 11th No. 1 single with Gotta Move On.
Co-written by Jeremih, the track this week tops the Billboard Adult R&B Chart, after becoming the most added song at Adult R&B radio following its 2020 release.
The chart feat lands Toni her third No. 1 record over the past year, following Do It and Live Out Your Love (ft. Kem).
That puts her in a tie with Alicia Keys for the most chart leaders and extends the diva’s Billboard history as the only artist to have claimed a No. 1 single on the airplay-focused chart in four different decades: 2020s, 2010s, 2000s and 1990s.
Gotta Move On is lifted from Toni’s 10th album, ‘Spell My Name’, which was released in 2020 and also features the hit single Dance.
Reviewing the album, Retro Pop said ‘Spell My Name’ features some of Toni’s “best vocal performances and songwriting to date”.
“Producing a body of work to follow 2018’s masterful ‘Sex & Cigarettes’ was never an easy feat but, on ‘Spell My Name’, Toni calls on the strengths of her near-30-year career and pushes them forward into a new era,” we wrote.
