Gloria Estefan is headed back to the big screen for a new remake of ‘Father of the Bride’.
The new movie will focus on a Cuban-American family, with the Get On Your Feet star joining the cast, which also features Andy Garcia as the titular character and Adria Arjona as his daughter, the bride.
And in a statement, Gloria, who will play Garcia’s wife, admitted she jumped at the chance to join the project, which will be directed by Gaz Alazraki.
She said: “A resounding yes was my answer to the invitation to join my good friend, the incredibly talented Andy Garcia, for this new and wonderfully warm and funny incarnation of the classic, ‘Father of the Bride’!
“I’ve been a fan of director, Gaz Alazraki, since I saw his record breaking comedy, Nosotros Los Nobles and can’t wait to experience how he brings this amazing script by Matt Lopez to life.”
Gloria most recently appeared on screen in a guest role on the revamped TV comedy series ‘One Day at a Time’. Her previous movie credits include Wes Craven’s 1999 drama ‘Music of the Heart’ and 2017 comedy ‘A Change of Heart’, directed by Kenny Ortega.
Last year, the star released her 14th studio album ‘Brazil305’, featuring re-recorded versions of her greatest hits with Brazilian rhythms.
In 2021, her UK and US Top 5 second studio album ‘Into the Light’ celebrates its 30th anniversary. The LP features classic hits including Coming Out of the Dark, Seal our Fate and Can’t Forget You.
